Justin Pierce has signed for VfL Kircheim Knights of the German Pro A League, the second-tier of German basketball. Pierce is now entering is second season overseas after playing the 2020/21 season for Kobrat in Finland.
Justin Pierce played for the University of North Carolina in 2019/20 as a Graduate Transfer from William & Mary. Pierce had a memorable first season as a professional basketball player playing his first season overseas in the top-tier of Finnish Basketball and saw his team Kobrat reach the postseason, for only the second time in the club’s history.
They were an 8 seed going up against the best team in the country, Helsinki and went out in the first round. Pierce missed the final games due to injury. Pierce’s season has finished and he ended averaging 16.56 PPG and was in the Top 20 Scorers of the Korisliiga.
Justin Pierce spoke to Ceiling is the Roof about signing for his new team:
“I was hoping to make the jump to the BBL (top league of Germany) this year, but from Finland it is not super easy. I talked with teams and they all said they want to see me have a healthy season and I am still very young and inexperienced in their eyes.”Justin Pierce speaking to Ceiling is the Roof about his new move
“I wanted to find a stable club where I could continue to develop with a coach who I felt like could help me progress to the next level. Kircheim is making a commitment to reach the BBL in 2022-23 season and are one of the top teams in Pro A. That’s my goal as well!”Justin Pierce speaking to Ceiling is the Roof about his goals
“I loved Finland and it will nice to be located more centrally in Germany, to be able to explore a new part of the world I’ve never been to, and to also have friends and family visit more easily.”Justin Pierce speaking to Ceiling is the Roof about living overseas
